March MAIDness: Day 22 – A Cleaning Playlist

a simple 5+ hour cleaning playlist, music to motivate you to clean your house; also includes a selection of favorite podcasts/audiobooks

I love to clean and I love music.  Thus, I love to clean to music. The only problem I run into is when the song makes me want to dance so much that I don’t clean, I just dance.  It is a delicate balance you have to strike in this area.

Music affects my mood greatly. The other day, I was driving in the afternoon and realized I was in the middle of the mid-afternoon slump. I immediately put on some music to pep me up. It worked! I made it through the afternoon without a nap and without coffee!

A Cleaning Playlist

As we wind down the March MAIDness series, I thought I would share a little bit of what I am listening to when I am cleaning house. In another life I would love to be a music supervisor or a DJ. Seriously.

I thought I would leave you today with a little music.  That way (maybe) I’ll stick in your head like the last song you heard.  And each time you hear one of these songs, you may be inspired to clean like a mad woman.

I threw together a playlist of tunes to motivate myself and my kids as we perform our household routines. You can get it here by following this playlist on Spotify. That way you can ask your smart device to play the “Cleaning” playlist and get motivated to clean.

NOTE: This is a mix of secular and non-secular music. I tried my best to ensure it is something I feel comfortable playing around my kids.

Podcasts I Listen To Whilst Cleaning

Often when I am cleaning by myself, I like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks. The tastes of them are quite varied. Here’s a selection of my favorites:

  • The Megyn Kelly Show
  • The Ramsey Show
  • In the Dark
  • Brilliant Business Moms
  • Armchair Expert (definitely NOT for kids)
  • 60 Songs That Explain the 90s
  • Broken Record
  • Truth & Justice
  • Smartless
  • Best Case Worst Case
  • Hit Parade

NOTE: I listen to all podcasts with earbuds in my ears. My kids have not yet discovered podcasts and I am ok with that. I would not be comfortable with my children listening to any of these podcasts.

I also use my Scribd subscription to listen to audiobooks. Currently I am listening to Debt Free Degree and The Red Tent.
